Book Description :-
In a change of pace from his books on spiritual self-enlightenment, James Allen -one of the most popular writers in the fields of inspiration at the turn of the 20th century-asks, What makes for prosperity? On what principles is a successful life or business built? In this work, first published in 1911, he explains his belief that "prosperity rests upon a moral foundation," one grounded by the pillars of Energy, Economy, Integrity, System, Sympathy, Sincerity, Impartiality, and Self-Reliance. In illuminating these principles, Allen hoped to contribute to "the prosperity of the mass of mankind." If worldly success continues to elude you, then this may be the book for you. British author and pop philosopher JAMES ALLEN (1864-1912) retired from the business world to pursue a life of writing and contemplation. Best known for As a Man Thinketh, he authored many other books about the power of thought including , The Mastery of Destiny, and From Passion to Peace.

From Passion to Peace by James Allen

Book Description :-

THE FIRST THREE PARTS of this book, Passion, Aspiration, and Temptation, represent the common human life, with its passion, pathos, and tragedy. The last three parts, Transcendence, Beatitude, and Peace, represents the Divine Life—calm, wise and beautiful—of the sage and Savior. The middle part, Transmutation,
is the transitional stage between the two; it is the alchemic process linking the divine with the human life. Discipline, denial, and renunciation do not constitute the Divine State; they are only the means by which it is attained. The Divine Life is established in that Perfect Knowledge which bestows Perfect Peace.

As a man Thinketh by James Allen

Download Links:-

Book Description :-
James Allen wrote this masterpiece in 1902 and created a new category of Self Help Literature. As A Man Thinketh, is masterpiece in very simple yet effective language.

James Allen puts very strongly the concept that there is no difference between mind and matter. A concept which have been put numerous time since then by different Self Help authors in a number of books.
Born and brought up in Leicester (England), had to leave his education and look out for leaving due to failure of his father’s business and worked in manufacturing firm, before taking writing as full time profession, which produced 19 books. As A Man Thinketh is considered as his best work.
When I started reading this book, it seems like I have read it somewhere in one form or others and I realized how often this book has been the source of inspiration for many Self Help books. Every sentence, will remind you of some quote somewhere. Its surprising that James Allen does not enjoy the fame like other Self Help book authors who have become so high profile and famous. Though his book is acknowledged by numerous modern authors like Robin Sharma, Deepak Chopra etc. The one book which resembles his works most is The Power of Positive Thinking by Norman Vincent Peale. Though Peale become far more popular than James Allen.

The book has seven chapters viz.
• Thought and Character
• Effect of thought on character
• Effects of thoughts on health and body
• Thought and purpose
• The thought factor in achievement
• Visions and Ideals
• Serenity
He has very aptly described the mind and matter connection, and how thoughts affects every aspect of life.
“ Man is mad or unmade by himself. In the armory of thought he forges the weapons by which he destroys himself.”
“Men do not attract that which they want, but that which they are.”
Though I have read many books where the mind-matter connection has been discussed more subtly and on the basis of many scientific facts, but still James Allen conveys his message as effectively as any one. He also gives glimpse of Buddhist teaching of Right Thinking.
Talking about the circumstances, he reveal the now oft quoted line “Circumstances do not make us, they reveal us. .. Each set of circumstances however bad offers an unique opportunity for growth.”
Reading self help books has a completely different meaning for me, I am often amazed as the ability of these authors to put a simple idea in very forceful manner in simple words. Probably they cash on the human tendencies to grow and improve. But even for those, who does not like Self Help books it can be a good idea to go for the book and see what was there which initiated a whole genre.

James Allen

James Allen is a literary mystery man. His inspirational writings have influenced millions for good. Yet today he remains almost unknown...... None of his nineteen books give a clue to his life other than to mention his place of residence - Ilfracombe, England. His name cannot be found in a major reference work. Not even the Library of Congress or the British Museum has much to say about him.Who was this man who believed in the power of thought to bring fame, fortune and happiness? Or did he, as Henry David Thoreau says, hear a different drummer?...... James Allen never gained fame or fortune. That much is true. His was a quiet, unrewarded genius. He seldom made enough money from his writings to cover expenses.Allen was born in Leicester, Central England, November 28, 1864. The family business failed within a few years, and in 1879 his father left for America in an effort to recoup his losses. The elder Allen had hoped to settle in the United States, but was robbed and murdered before he could send for his family. The financial crisis that resulted forced James to leave school at fifteen. He eventually became a private secretary, a position that would be called administrative assistant today. He worked in this capacity for several British manufacturers until 1902, when he decided to devote all his time to writing.Unfortunately, Allen's literary career was short, lasting only nine years, until his death in 1912. During that period he wrote nineteen books, a rich outpouring of ideas that have lived on to inspire later generations.
